A practical view of E-commerce, information technology and trends in Japan and other Asian regions. The course format will be an interactive seminar, with substantial group work in class and homework assignments. Topics include:
- An introduction to E-Commerce, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Supply Chain Management (SCM), and E-Procurement.
- Internet media introduction and analysis, including permission marketing, banner and rich media advertising, affiliate marketing and auctions, focused on both Japanese Internet users and the permeation of popular products.
- Payment systems overview and management, with an emphasis on credit cards and other types of business transactions.
- Outsourcing and managing web design and site copy production, hosting provider E-Commerce and on-line transactions. This includes an introduction to Search Engine Optimization, web statistics and analysis, along with a discussion of cookies, web bugs and tracking methodology for performance optimization.
