What I really needed for my DBA was a flexible curriculum. Far too many schools require their students to spend a semester living on campus, and I simply couldn’t get away from my job responsibilities for that long. On top of that, I wanted to experience another country. I knew the US, I knew the UK, and I wanted an experience of continental Europe. Far too many schools require their students to spend a semester living on campus, and I simply couldn’t get away from my job responsibilities for that long. On top of that, I wanted to experience another country. I knew the US, I knew the UK, and I wanted an experience of continental Europe. So I chose ISM for its curriculum and its Paris campus. What the school can offer, above all else, is a really diverse student body, both in terms of culture and profession. They’re willing to share with each other, so you have this stimulating exchange of experiences and knowledge before, during and after every seminar. I see how people react differently to the same phenomena based on their background. I also see how they use different methods of analysis, and I feel like I have more of those tools under my belt for use in my own business. ISM has made me more sensitive to how the people across the negotiating table might react. In general, ISM has given a real theoretical perspective on a lot of issues I confront at work, and those analytical tools have strong practical applications.
