The course is an introduction to terminology, concepts, problem solving, and techniques in accounting and finance. Important areas to be discussed include understanding financial statements, basic analysis of financial statements, budgeting, working capital management, capital budgeting, long-term debt, equity funding, and working capital management. The course has 4 primary objectives: 1. To instill a basic understanding of accounting and finance terminology and concepts. 2. To develop skills necessary to complete problem solving exercises using basic accounting and finance skills. 3. To review how accounting and finance functions interact with the management team. 4. To develop an understanding of the application of accounting and finance principles to decision-making situations in a business environment.
