In order to properly manage an international business organization, it is necessary to have knowledge of the various recognized trade-related world bodies, relevant anti-trust laws, corporate and alliance structures, basic and international sales contracts, E-commerce legal considerations, in-depth review of products Liability, avoiding litigation, and evolving methods of mediation and other alternative forms of dispute resolution. This course shall explore business management and state of the art corporate governance from a legal perspective without it being a strictly law school course. It will give the student sufficient knowledge to Negotiate and read contracts and be able to spot legal issues as they arise in order to determine what options are available and whether counsel is required. Cultural factors are considered throughout. International law and Jurisdiction will be covered, with an emphasis on US and European contract and sales law. Other matters of interest will also be touched upon. The course will conclude with a mediation workshop.
The approach of the course is practical and problem-oriented. The major part of the course will involve applying the learning to practical, real-world business situations that might be encountered through lecture, readings and interactive class participation. |
