Enterprise Risk Management Print E-mail
Risk management is becoming more holistic in scope. This means the discipline is expanding beyond the traditional management of 'hazard risks' to include all of the risks that may constrain a firm from achieving its strategic goals. The 'Chief Risk Officer' (CRO) is now looking at the strategic risks, operational risks, financial risks, as well as the hazard risks. The purpose of enterprise risk management is to manage all of these risks as a portfolio. This requires the CRO to have a broad range of management skills, including strategic planning, operations management, financial management, and pure risk management. This course is a introduction to integrating these skills into a risk portfolio. As a prerequisite, it is assumed the student has studied management, finance, operations management, and risk management. Through scenario analysis, students develop a risk portfolio. Upon completion of the course students should be able to: know the importance and consequences of the many risks in the business world, understand the inter-relationships of these different risks, and develop a plan for coordinating the desired risks.
