The IEMBA emphasizes the practical application of principles that govern international business with a curriculum tailored to the lives of working professionals. The program is based on an American-style curriculum-a series of intensive Seminars-taught by professors with real-world experience who also teach in some of America's top business schools.

Prospective IEMBA applicants should:

• Hold a university degree from an accredited four-year Undergraduate institution
• Possess a minimum of six years of professional experience

• Graduates earn an IEMBA degree accredited in the US and Europe and recognized worldwide.
• An IEMBA degree is designed to be completed within a two year time frame, with an accelerated completion option available for outstanding students.
• There is no compulsory core curriculum in the IEMBA program, thus giving students the choices and flexibility they need to meet their individual career goals and professional responsibilities. Instead, students work very closely with their academic advisor to ensure that all major business disciplines are addressed during their course of studies.

The Traditional Option

The Traditional Option takes place in the classroom, making use of ISM's Paris campus as well as its international programs in New York, Tokyo, and Shanghai. Its strength, of course, is the opportunity for participants to meet one another face-to-face, and share their experience and knowledge.

To complete their requisite Coursework in the classroom:

• Students may choose among ISM's Paris, New York, Tokyo and Shanghai seminars.
• Each seminar in Paris constitutes 1.5 credits and is taught over a three day period: Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm.
• The New York program is worth 5 credits.
• The Tokyo and Shanghai programs represent 5 credits each, or 10 credits in total.
• Those who elect to study exclusively in Paris are required to take 22 seminars for a total of 33 credits.
• Given the intensive course format, ISM provides students with the necessary reading materials one month before each seminar.

The E-learning Option

The e-Learning Option takes advantage of ISM’s extensive e-Learning curriculum, which offers students the possibility of completing the majority of their IEMBA seminars on-line. Through this approach, students may study as their schedules permit, adjusting the pace of their coursework to the demands of office and home. E-Learning students are nevertheless required to take 25% of their seminars (i.e. 9 credits) in the traditional classroom. The remaining 24 credits are to be completed on e-learning (i.e. 8 on-line courses).

• Attending 6 seminars in Paris.
• Attending a combination of international programs that also counts towards meeting the traditional seminar requirement.

Please note that e-Learning students are not confined to the e-Learning curriculum, and may take as many traditional seminars as they wish to complete their degree.

Professional Assessment

All IEMBA students are required to complete two Professional Assessment Case Studies during the course of their program. The first one is completed before starting the program and the second one is completed towards the end of the program. If students satisfactorily complete these two evaluations within their respective deadlines, 0.75 credits may be earned towards the degree requirements for each case study.

Master's Thesis

The final element of the program involves researching and writing a Master's Thesis. Conducted under the supervision of an approved Director of Research, the Master's Thesis should be:

• A project that is both original and pertinent to current international business theory and practice and the student’s current or future professional responsibilities.
• On a topic formulated by the student, though it must be approved by the ISM Thesis Director before research can begin.
• Demonstrative of the student’s understanding of how conceptual knowledge or academic theory applies in specific contexts.

Once the thesis has been submitted to and approved by the ISM Thesis Committee, the student is eligible to receive his or her IEMBA degree, provided that a minimum of 33 credits of coursework and the two Professional Assessment Evaluation Case Studies have been successfully completed.
