Zina Kyriakos, PhD candidate whose PhD dissertation focuses on “Female Leadership in the Arab World,” was invited by Mrs. Nazek Hariri, assassinated Lebanese Prime Minister’s widow, to attend an event commemorating a six-year passage of his assassination on February 14, 2005. The event was held this past February 14 at the World Arab Institute in Paris, in conjunction with the Hariri Foundation. The event was also attended by Former French President, Jacques Chirac, as well as the President of the World Arab Institute, Ms. Dominique Baudis, who saluted the lifetime achievements of the Former Slain Prime Minister.
Ms. Kyriakos is currently conducting a case study on the Hariri Foundation which was founded by the late PM, Mr. Hariri, back in 1979. However, after Mr. Hariri’s assassination, his widow, Mrs. Nazek Hariri took over the affairs of the different functions and services of the foundation, whose aim is to provide sustainable development to the community as a whole. The case study aims at showcasing Mrs. Hariri’s leadership skills and her role in effecting change in the Arab world, in terms of education, gender equality, and leadership for women.
