|Ana Baldeon - PhD Candidate from the United States|
I was admitted into the ISM PHD program in February of 2007. I am getting closer to the finish line now and I am very happy that I started this journey. The first class I took was Active Investment Management. It was a really good start and I was able to set up my own time frames to complete the work. Other programs do not provide this flexibility. I was very conservative and allocated time to complete the three course assignments. It worked perfectly with my heavy international auditor traveling schedule! It was challenging but doable!
Although I was happy and comfortable taking an online class, I wanted to experience the ISM international power. Thus, in July 2007, I took a 2-week seminar in NY and I was flabbergasted! I met incredible people from all over the world! The professors were extremely accomplished and the students were awesome!
Even though it only lasted two weeks, we all bonded and became great friends. We did a lot of group work together, and even had some time to socialize. We truly embraced and enjoyed our diversity! I liked this experience so much that I signed up for another 2 week seminar in NY in 2008. As a result, now I have several great friends in different parts of the world!
In January 2010 I took “The Advance Corporate Finance” seminar in Paris and again the level and quality of the class were exceptional and the professor and classmates outstanding!
It is not easy to juggle a full time job and to study at the same time. It is a lot of hard work but the ISM program has helped me find the right balance. In addition to the professional growth, I have experienced amazing personal rewards.
I will be very proud to be called have earned and ISM PhD, and to have cultivated so many beautiful friends throughout the process!
