| Course Summary: This course is designed for corporate level executives who need to brush up their financial decision skills. More specifically, this course is not intended for participants who have had extensive financial knowledge acquired through work or MBA level finance courses. No prior financial knowledge/background is assumed from participants. Mathematical calculations are kept to a minimum. Emphasis is on the insights gleaned from applied corporate finance theories and numerical examples. The philosophy behind the course design is that successful chief executives are from varied backgrounds. They do not need to be able to perform financial calculations, but they must understand the financial implications of corporate decisions and be able to interpret financial calculations by subordinates. The course will adopt a bottom-up approach. Through a combination of cases and lectures, participants will acquire the knowledge to understand financial statements and then apply basic corporate finance knowledge to evaluate corporate investment decisions. In addition, issues of corporate governance will be addressed extensively in this course. |
