Risk Management MBA/IEMBA Seminar in New York

This course prepares the student for a future in risk management. The course explores the theoretical and practical foundations of risk management as well as the latest developments of the risk management process. The general objectives of the course are to familiarize the student with the various definitions of risk, teaching why risk matters, how to measure risk, and how to manage risk by a scientific process.

ISM’s professor Chirino-Klevans co-authored chapter about cosmopolitanism in an educational context

Professor Chirino-Klevans co-authored a chapter in “Digital Transformation and Innovation in Chinese Education”. Both authors discuss “cosmopolitanism as experience; cosmopolitanism as multiculturalism; and cosmopolitanism as intercultural competency” and in collaboration “between North Carolina State University, and a Chinese school in Beijing in an effort to know more about these three cosmopolitan and educational constructs”. Furthermore, a number of critical incidents are explored and “show the ways that teachers used technology to deepen their intercultural competencies through the lens of cosmopolitanism”.

DBA Candidate Vara Kuppam Successfully Defends Thesis

On September 12, 2017, ISM DBA candidate Vara Kuppam successfully defended his dissertation titled “Cloud Adoption: Factors Influencing Small and Medium Businesses in the United States” with honors.
The defense jury was made up of Professor Nicholas Harkiolakis (adviser), Professor Michael Wynne (second examiner), and Professor César Baena (ISM’s Dean and Director of Doctoral Research).

DBA candidate publishes an article in JWN Energy Magazine

DBA candidate Sochi Iwuoha published an article titled “Fragmentation of effort: the Canadian energy research dilemma” in collaboration with the Canadian Energy Research Institute. He co-authored the article and identifies “key constraints to the development of evidence-based decision making and highlight the important role of collaboration amongst research institution”.

PhD Candidate Tewelde Mezgobo Successfully Defends Thesis

On September 6, 2017, Tewelde Mezgobo successfully defended his PhD dissertation titled "New Public Management and Path Dependence in Public Organizations in Ethiopia: A Multiple Case Study."
The jury was made up of Professor Daphne Halkias (adviser), Professor Chris Adendorff (second examiner) and Professor César Baena (ISM Dean and Director of Doctoral Research).

PhD Candidate Dorothy McAleer Successfully Defends Thesis

On June 21, 2017, Dorothy McAleer successfully defended her PhD dissertation titled "A Global Meta-Data Analysis of Factors Influencing Sustainability Report External Assurance."
The jury was made up of Professor Manomita Nandy (adviser), Professor Michael Wynne (second examiner), and Professor César Baena (ISM Dean and Director of Doctoral Research).
