Prof. Richard Bennett, MBA

  Prof. Richard Bennett, MBA

Prof. Bennett is a faculty member at St. John's University, serving as Assistant Professor of Risk Management. Professor Bennett teaches MBA courses and BBA courses, as well as five sections leading to the Professional Designations of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM). He has extensive experience in the technical insurance industry, having held supervisory management positions in underwriting and claims, including general liability and medical malpractice. He recently designed and led an insurance program in Seoul, South Korea, for the Sam Sung Insurance Company. Professor Bennett has completed the following designations as part of his Risk management and Insurance experience: RPLU, CPCU, ARM, ARe, AIC, AMIM, AU, AIM, AAI, API and ARC. In addition he is the holder of the MetLife Chair for Teaching Excellence at St. John's University.

Dr. Charles Burden, PhD

  Dr. Charles Burden, PhD

A specialist in the fields of organizational behavior, leadership, and international management skills, Dr. Burden has been teaching with ISM for the past 5 years. He holds a Doctorate in business administration and organizational behavior from Georgia State University where he has been a faculty member for over 30 years. He is a member of the international Organizational Behavior Teaching Society, a Fellow in the Institute of Management (UK), and a member of the Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars. Recently he shared recognition as Outstanding Organizational Behavior Teacher in the US by the Organizational Behavior Teaching Society. Dr. Burden has over 30 publications to date.

Jeffrey A. Carr, President of Carr & Associates Inc., is a marketing consultant and trainer specializing in strategic marketing analysis and planning. Serving corporate clients in manufacturing and service industries, he brings a focused, practical approach to today's marketing issues. Jeff has consulted and lectured extensively in the UK, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the US for a variety of clients in the areas of strategic marketing, brand management, computer analysis, pricing, distribution management, and integrated marketing communications. He has designed, developed and delivered a customized internal marketing training program for a leading worldwide advertising agency and for three years delivered a one-week institute in Interactive Electronic Media and Marketing at New York University.

Dr. Bruce Dorey, PhD

  Dr. Bruce Dorey, PhD

Dr. Dorey received an engineering degree from the University of Toronto, an MBA from the University of St. Thomas in the U.S., and a DBA and Ph.D. from the International School of Management (ISM). Dr. Dorey has lectured and consulted extensively throughout North America, Europe and the Middle East. His focus and research is in the area of organizational climates, specifically as they relate to strategy and strategy execution.

Dr. Mark Esposito, advisor to the UNESCO and Organizational Management and Sustainability specialist, has been focusing in the past years on the implementation of sustainable change and leadership in all industries. His main concern is the creation and development of sustainable thought and action in all facets of organizational and human performance. Currently, Dr. Esposito serves as an Assistant Dean of the MBA program at the International School of Management. He has worked as Director of the University of Massachusetts Amherst Switzerland Program and he has now been appointed full Professor of Management, for the International University of Monaco. Dr. Esposito is also very active in distance learning where he covers the position of Associate Professor of Management for the first world Dual Doctorate of Business Administration with ESEADE (Argentina) SMC (Switzerland –Austria) and between SMC and Universidad Mayor in Chile. As part of his research and collegial activities, Dr. Esposito works as Professor Attaché for the Grenoble Graduate School of Business and for the ESCP-EAP, European School of Management (Torino Campus), in the field of Organizational Development. Through these appointments he has been invited to lecture at the Academy of National Economy in Moscow, The Caucasus School of Business in Georgia and the London Business School of Business and Finance. Dr. Esposito works constantly on consulting projects aimed at the creation of collaborative scenarios for the training of executives and working professional from Europe, North & South America and Asia and the blend of his academic and operational exposures has fed the research of the development within several organizations as much as contributing to the two major consulting firms he is currently involved as a think-tank member and associate consultant. Among the projects to be accomplished in the upcoming months, there is a textbook co-authored with a Nobel nominee in the domain of Sustainability one book chapter with several illustrious academicians in the topic of “Laws of Communication” to be published by Wiley and several initiatives through the Institute of Transformative Thought & Learning in Phoenix, USA and the Prasena Knowledge Management firm in Thailand.

Dr. Ewert is Professor Emeritus of Finance and Director Emeritus, Executive MBA Program at Georgia State University. The Executive MBA program has been ranked in the top ten in Business Week. He is president of Atwood Conger & Ewert, LLC, a firm that provides financial and project management training and consulting services. Dr. Ewert served on the Board of Directors for NEC America's wholly owned subsidiary, NEC Eluminant Technologies. He has presented financial management/project management seminars in Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and North and South America. He has also been on the faculty of San Jose State University, Purdue University, and the University of California, Berkeley's Worldwide Programs. He earned his engineering degree at Iowa State University, his MS at the University of Minnesota, and his PhD at Stanford University.

Dr. Joseph Giglio Ph.D.

  Dr. Joseph Giglio Ph.D.

Dr. Giglio's unique background in business, public policy and finance is rooted in his experience on Wall Street, in government service, and in academia. Currently he teaches strategy and a special course called “The CEO” at the College of Business at Northeastern University, where he was selected as the “Outstanding Professor” from 1998-2000. He is also the Vice-Chairman of the Hudson Institute, a leading public policy organization in Washington, D.C. Previously, he was an Executive Vice President at Smith Barney Shearson Inc., served as President of Chase Municipal Securities, Inc., and was a Senior Managing Director at Bear Stearns. The American Banker, a leading magazine on the banking industry, recognized him as the “Outstanding Investment Banker” for several years. In addition, Dr. Giglio has held a series of senior management positions at both the federal and state government levels, serving as Chairman of US President Ronald Reagan’s National Council on Public Works Improvement, and chaired the U.S. Senate Budget Commission from 1983-1986. He holds a BA from Rutgers University, a MPA from New York University, a MBA from Columbia University and a Ph.D. from Northeastern University.

Dr. Gordon has extensive experience in the areas of entrepreneurship, education, public speaking, and science. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.S. from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. For the past ten years, he has been teaching entrepreneurship as an Adjunct Professor at Babson College and for the past five years at the Harvard Extension School. After twelve years in research, development, and management at Polaroid Corporation and Celanese Plastics Company, Dr. Gordon pursued a career in entrepreneurship and founded four companies: a plastics injection molding company a company which made products for the control of static electricity (Plastic Systems, Inc) a network for entrepreneurs and investors (the Venture-Preneurs Network) and a private investment and consulting firm (Quantum Ventures). He is currently developing the internet venture AngelDeals.com, a virtual global network for the business community: entrepreneurs seeking funding and growth, investors seeking deal flow, business professionals seeking visibility, and both employers and job seekers.

  Dr. Jack Hampton, DBA

Dr. Hampton holds a DBA and MBA degree from George Washington University. He is the KPMG Professor of Business and Director of Graduate Business Programs at St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, NJ. He has been a principal in the Princeton Consulting Group since 1981 and has worked on strategic planning, risk management and due diligence projects for diverse clients including AT&T, The World Bank, Pacific Fruit, and United Technologies. Previously, he served as Executive Director of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) from 2000 to 2004. He was Dean of the Schools of Business at Seton Hall and Connecticut State Universities and Provost of the College of Insurance in New York City.

Dr. Jack Holder, Ph.D. Dr. Holder obtained his B.S., MBA, and Ph.D. from Indiana University at Bloomington, Indiana. His academic experience includes teaching assignments at six universities in the US and four foreign countries. Recently, he served as Associate Professor of Management at Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts and Dakar, Senegal as Instructor at two universities in Munich, Germany and as Instructor at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. His professional background is diverse and includes over thirty years of management experience across the globe. Currently, Dr. Holder manages his own domestic and international mergers and acquisitions company.

Dr. Simon Peter Horn, PhD

  Dr. Simon Peter Horn, PhD

Dr. Peter Horn joined International School of Management in 1995 as dean and professor. He received his doctorate in International Business from the University of California, an LL.M. from Regent University School of Law in Virginia, and an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the University of California. He is the founder and CEO of Euro-Capital Group, Inc., an investment banking and equity group providing services to an international private-banking clientele for nearly twenty years. Prior to that, he was the co-founder and vice-president of Finance, Administration & Business Development for Nautilus Biotech SA and previously he founded Athabasca Center Commercial Developments Ltd., a Canadian based international real estate development and investment group. An active contributor to his field, Dr. Horn has published numerous articles and reports since the start of his career, most recently serving as editor for issues of the International Journal of Management and Decision Making.

Guillermo C. Jiménez is a specialist in international trade and international business transactions. A graduate of Harvard University and University of California - Berkeley's Law School, Mr. Jiménez has lectured on international trade and related topics in over thirty countries. He is the author of Export-Import Basics: The Legal, Financial and Transport Aspects of International Trade (1997), a leading seller in its field. He has also published several articles in the business and popular press and has collaborated on the drafting of numerous international policy papers and model contracts. After working for eight years in Paris as Head of Division at the International Chamber of Commerce, he returned to the US, where he was recently appointed Professor of International Trade and Marketing at the State University of New York - F.I.T.

Dr. James Kallman, PhD

  Dr. James Kallman, PhD

Dr. Kallman holds a doctoral degree in risk management and insurance from the University of Wisconsin, a Masters of Science degree in business from the University of Wisconsin, and a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the University of Minnesota. He also has the Associate in Business and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations. Dr. Kallman teaches professional education courses in risk management, risk control, risk financing, and financial management. Dr. Kallman is the owner of Kallman Consulting Services (KCS), providing practical applications of Enterprise Risk Management. Prior to opening KCS, Kallman was the Executive Vice President of the National Alliance in charge of the Certified Risk Managers International program and the Academy of producer insurance studies. He has also served as a full-time professor at St. John’s University, the School of Risk Management (formerly The College of Insurance). His research focus is risk control and loss control project decision making. Dr. Kallman also writes materials for and teaches the RIMS Fellow in Risk Management courses and serves on the RIMS Professional Development Advisory Committee. He serves on various committees for the American Risk and Insurance Association and the Western Risk and Insurance Association.

Dr. Alan Moorer, PhD

Dr. Alan Moorer is a communications consultant, professional writer/editor, and teacher. He joins the faculty at ISM in Intercultural Communication. Dr. Moorer received his B.S. in Management from Mississippi State University (Presidential Scholar) and served as a Management Consultant (Southeastern Consultants, Atlanta, GA) before being called to active duty in the US Army where he served in Europe as a Guided Missile Officer (HQ General Staff Briefing Officer, NATO Liaison Officer, Dignitary Escort Officer and NATO Project Officer). After honorable discharge as Captain, he took his M.A. and Ph.D., in English and American Literature at the University of Virginia (DuPont Fellow and Lecturer). Dr. Moorer is the writer/editor of numerous books and articles, two novels, two books of poetry, and is currently working on a screen play with Donna Volatile Productions. Previously, Dr. Moorer taught Organizational Communication at Virginia Tech for two years served 10 years as Director of Corporate Communications & Public Relations for a U.S. 500 company and was co-founder and President of Lexis Communications for six years. Moorer spent a year as Communications Consultant for the USDA two years as Corporate Accounts Consultant for Tymshare International (Computer) Corporation and taught English, American and Comparative Literature for seven years (serving as Director of Undergraduate Studies) at the University of Kentucky. He will also be a Visiting Professor of International Communication at People's University (Nemnin) in Beijing, China.

Dr. Maria Nathan, PhD

Dr. Maria Nathan is a Professor of Management at the School of Business and Economics, Lynchburg College, Lynchburg, Virginia. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in strategic management, leadership, organization development/change, and international business. Having received her PhD from the University of Southern California in Business Administration in 1992, she has also taught at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Nathan holds expertise in crisis management and strategic planning, having published over 40 scholarly articles, book chapters, reviews and reports on these topics. She is on the editorial review board of four journals and is an active reviewer for several national and international conferences. Dr. Nathan has won numerous awards and grants for her work in past years, including best paper and best reviewer awards. A 2004 Fulbright Scholar in China, Dr. Nathan also teaches in Bangkok, Thailand, where she works with doctoral students in Ramkhamhaeng University’s School of International Relations Doctoral Program.

Dr. Hamid Rafizadeh, PhD

Dr. Hamid Rafizadeh has extensive experience in top management and academe. He has been the president and CEO of a large machine tool manufacturing company and has engaged in various business activities with a number of companies in different countries including Japan, England, India, and Czechoslovakia for machine tools, Australia for uranium mining, Germany, Pakistan and Egypt for textile machinery, Sweden and Israel for cutting tools, Denmark for continuous casting, and France for nuclear power. He has been responsible for development and implementation of unique strategies for converting a troubled nuclear power plant into a productive coal plant, managing the fuel cycle industry of a 24,000 MW power program from startup, and holding positions of Manager of Engineering, Manager of Financial Operations, and Director of Business Planning at a multi-billion dollar utility company. He earned his Ph.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MBA from University of Dayton and Master of Humanities from Wright State University. He has published several scientific papers and research reports, has co-edited and written four books, and has taught and researched at six US and international universities.

Dr. Len Rogers, DipM BA MSc MBA PhD

Dr. Rogers is an international management and business development consultant specializing in finance, marketing, and above all, profit. Besides his wide experience with large organizations including ICI Ltd, Vickers Ltd, the RIL Group and Moss Bros, he has owned and operated a retail store in Bristol, a photographic and film company with Lord Christopher Thynne in London, an advertising agency and a management consultancy. He was chief examiner to the Institute of Marketing for 11 years, senior lecturer at Medway College, and for 15 years, the marketing training consultant to Philips Gloeilampenfabrieken, Eindhoven. Dr. Rogers is also director of Computer Resources International SA (Luxembourg), International Operational Studies Ltd, which is located in Belgium, the UK, Luxembourg and the US, and he currently advises companies on developing their international activities. Dr. Rogers has written many comprehensive case studies including twenty-two examinations, several hundred articles, supplementary papers for MBA students, in addition to ten business books and numerous freelance commissions. He teaches Corporate Finance and two courses in the PhD program for ISM.

Dr. Sidney Rosenberg, PhD

Dr. Sidney B. Rosenberg is the William F. Sheffield Professor of Real Estate in the College of Business at the University of North Florida. He joined the faculty of UNF in 1991 after two years as an Assistant Professor at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. Rosenberg received his PhD in Real Estate and Finance and his MBA degree in Finance from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Ga. His undergraduate degree is from Washington and Lee University. He served as a Fulbright Exchange Professor in Riga, Latvia and completed a faculty development seminar on teaching international finance at the Thunderbird Graduate School. He was named outstanding graduate faculty member for the University of North Florida College of Business for 1996-1997, and outstanding finance professor for 1999-2000. He has had extensive real estate lending and development experience, and was the president of a major mortgage banking firm in Atlanta. He currently consults and is an expert witness on matters involving real estate finance and real estate investment. He has also taught at Georgia State University, and for the Mortgage Banker's Association of America.

Dr. Joseph Santora, PhD

Joseph C. Santora (Ed.D., Fordham) holds the rank of full professor of business and management at Essex County College in Newark, New Jersey, USA. Since 1982, he has been a principal in TSTDCG, Inc., a consulting firm that has worked with a variety of organizations on leadership development, board training, and succession planning. In 1996, Dr. Santora was appointed a Visiting Professorial Fellow at Monash-Mt. Eliza Business School, Mt Eliza, Victoria, Australia, attached to the Leadership Center where he conducted research and wrote cases on Australian executives he also taught in the school's executive development program. In 1984, he was a mid-career fellow at Princeton University, Woodrow Wilson School of Public & International Affairs. He has also taught in several graduate school programs in the US and has developed a number of graduate courses on leadership. Dr. Santora is an accomplished researcher and writer: he has published more than 70 articles, cases, research translations, encyclopedia entries, and book reviews on leadership which have appeared in international academic journals and practitioner magazines such as Academy of Management Executive, British Academy of Management, Career Development International, The International Journal Business Studies, Journal of Leadership Studies, Journal of Management Education, Leadership & Organization Development Journal, and Nonprofit Management & Leadership. An avid case writer, he has contributed some two dozen teaching cases to several leading organizational behavior and management textbooks and journals. He was the past book review editor for the Journal of Leadership Studies and serves on several editorial boards.

Dr. Stanley Smits, PhD

Dr. Smits is Professor and Chair Emeritus in the Department of Management at Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA, US. He is also a Licensed Applied Psychologist (Georgia #321) specializing in Organizational Behavior. His international experience includes research and technical assistance in the Peoples Republic of China (1981), the United Kingdom and Malaysia (1992-97), South Africa (1998-99), and Egypt (1999). He taught MBA courses in Egypt as part of the Joint MBA Program sponsored by the Fulbright Commission, GSU and Cairo University (1998-2003), at a GSU-affiliated MBA program at Poznan University of Economics, Poland (1996-1997 and 2003-2005) and he taught MBA and DBA seminars at the International School of Management, Paris (2001-05). His academic responsibilities have also taken him to Japan (1992 and 2001) and to Australia (1998). Dr. Smits has over 100 scholarly and practitioner publications to his credit, including two films. His research interests include leadership assessment and impact, organizational culture, and health and safety in the workplace. As a consultant, he has helped businesses with training needs assessment and strategic planning.

JC Spender is CEO & Chairman of KnowGo Corp., a New York based knowledge management consultancy. He is a widely published lecturer on strategy, knowledge management, and organization theory. He has taught on four continents. His most recent book is Eden, C., & Spender, J.-C. (Eds.). (1996). Managerial and Organizational Cognition. London: Sage. He was previously a nuclear submarine engineer, computer salesman, and banker, and served as a Business School Dean for seven years.

  Dr. Joseph, Steinman DBA

Dr. Steinman holds a D.B.A. in International Management with a minor in International Finance from the Business School Lausanne, Switzerland, an M.B.A. (Finance) from Purdue University (U.S.A.), an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Rennslaer Polytechnic Institute (U.S.A.) and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science from the University of Rochester (U.S.A.). In the early part of his career he worked in engineering research in the U.S. space programme and subsequently spent twenty-five years in various corporate positions in finance, strategic planning and general management in the U.S., Europe and Africa. He has worked for both large and small companies in manufacturing, transportation and agriculture and has been a partner in an international management consulting firm, VALCON, S.A., for the past ten years. He taught courses in finance, accounting and international management for nine years, mainly at the graduate level in Europe, and has been a visiting professor and guest lecturer at several U.S. universities.

Roger Thorn holds a Masters diploma from the University of Oxford. He has worked for Esso Petroleum Limited, a US corporation in the UK, and has served as the Mergers and Acquisitions Director of the Banque de la Société Financière Européenne in Paris. During this time, he traveled regularly between New York, Chicago, the Mid-West and California and engineered deals between US sellers and European buyers.

Dr. Robert Van Cleave, PhD

Dr. Robert W. Van Cleave has some thirty years of experience in higher education and industry. On the academic side, Dr. Van Cleave has taught undergraduate, masters, and doctoral level courses covering a wide range of academic areas including: business research methods, business statistics, quantitative methods, and information systems. He received several honors from the University of Minnesota including the “Carlson School Undergraduate Teacher of the Year Award” (voted by students), “Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award” (voted by students while he was a graduate student), the University President’s “Distinguished Faculty Mentor Award”, and the University’s Continuing Education “Outstanding Service Award.” His industry experience includes holding management positions in the U.S. Air Force, Medtronic, Inc., and the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. Dr. Van Cleave has a Ph.D. degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Information and Decision Sciences from the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. He also obtained his MBA degree from the Carlson School with a concentration in Quantitative Analysis and Information Systems. His undergraduate business degree is from the Fisher School of Management at The Ohio State University with an emphasis in Finance. Dr. Van Cleave is currently Program Chair and Associate Professor of Business and Information Technology at Argosy University/Twin Cities.

Dr. Wilhelmus Van Der Zande, PhD, MIM, RE

Dr. Wim van der Zande is a specialist in the area of Information Management both as a consultant and as an auditor. Wim holds a MBA and a post-graduate degree (Registered EDP-auditor) from Tilburg University in the Netherlands. Wim earned the degree of Master of Information Management at Washington University (St. Louis) and he got his PhD from the International School of Management (ISM). For 12 years he has been a part-time faculty member at Nyenrode Business School. Wim has worked for more than 20 years in the Financial Service Industry at the insurance company Interpolis, the Unico Banking Group and the Rabobank, the largest retail bank in the Netherlands. Over the years he held several management positions in the area of Information Management. He is the owner of the consultancy firm Unibro out of which he consults and teaches around the globe. Recently Wim taught in several countries of the former USSR as part of an assignment for the Worldbank.
