After 2 years with HELLA, I was nominated as Vice President Electronics - France.

The Automotive industry, in which HELLA operates, has recently been shaken by a major and global crisis. During this critical period for my company, I could draw on the skills I learned during my IEMBA studies with ISM. The lessons provided me the perfect support to guide me in making the right decisions as Managing Director of HELLA France, Original Equipment.

I have been working in the non-profit sector for the last 26 years. I took the ISM IEMBA program from 2005 to 2006 and finished my thesis and graduated in 2007.

It was a very good experience and it was important to attend courses in person in Paris as well as New York. I also experienced one on-line course.

One of the highlights of the program was the opportunity to interact with other high-level professionals coming from various parts of the world and working in various industries. I would recommend ISM for anyone looking to improve organizational knowledge and to make new international connections.

At ISM, the aspect I appreciate the most is the diversity of the program: students coming from different cultures, countries and educational backgrounds. What is more, the choice of candidates is excellent. Even if it seems that we are all so different at first sight, we have something in common: the willingness and the curiosity to learn and the academic mind-set to create an even more interesting, and more successful existence by widening our horizons.

The ISM professors are trained to meet our (very high) expectations. They all have significant industry experience and demonstrate how theoretical knowledge can be transformed into practice.ISM strives to continuously improve their programs, websites, intranet tools and academic resources in order to adapt to an ever changing environment, to meet the highest standards and to offer the best service to their students.

Never in my life have I gained, by academic guidance, so much useful information about how to deal with everyday professional challenges, even in fields I thought I never would understand, like financial analysis! (I work in human resources).

This approach of finding the right balance between theoretical knowledge and experience in business makes ISM so unique that upon completing their IEMBA program, I applied and have been accepted to participate in the Ph.D program.

There are a number of merits you may look for when choosing a boutique business school such as ISM: reasonable pricing, accreditation, small and exclusive student body, skilled and qualified teachers. At ISM you will find all this and some additional surprises: i) maximum flexibility through attending seminars in Paris, New York, Tokyo, Shanghai and online; ii) you rarely find a course where you already know every participant and where you have less than five different nationalities resulting in great discussions with multiple perspectives and diverse experiences; iii) most of the faculty are big names from big universities but all from different parts of the world and with different opinions. You hardly find another business school where you can enjoy a similar learning style; iiii) superior customer service driven by timeliness and quality. Any enquiry is usually answered within 24 hrs, most problems or questions can be discussed individually with teachers or staff.

ISM is the right choice for everybody who looks for high quality, flexibility, and an international environment rather than a prestigious brand and a posh campus. ISM is really a smart concept with big growth potential.

An International Executive MBA is indispensable to me as I have a degree in International Politics and, despite having gained 10 years of important work experience in Italy and abroad, in both non-profit and profit multinationals, I feel there are significant economic and managerial skills that will allow me to navigate more complex and global organisational structures, and comprehend the rules and management systems which govern them.

Additionally, in order to make a significant leap in my professional career, I am aware that I will need to strengthen my practical know-how.

To address the above, I chose the International School of Management. It offers me the possibility of following a distance learning training course which is calibrated to my working needs, held in English, with an American style curriculum. It also allows the possibility of residencies in New York, Tokyo and Shanghai that provide insight into different local business environments, and access to local business professionals. The in-class sessions across all locations allow for the development of a strong multicultural network. All of the above, fundamental elements when one is keen to play an active role in today’s global world.

I chose the ISM DBA program because of its enrollment standards, flexible program, and the intense focus on international business. Not only could the curriculum fit my schedule, but attending class with other classmates from around the world helped form relationships that will last long after the program. The international and varied perspectives presented in class made for a well-rounded and enriching learning environment. In most things in life, you get out of them what you put in. At ISM, I feel like I got even more than I expected. My operating scope and global awareness increased a hundred-fold through this program. I would highly recommend this program to any of my associates or friends.

I enrolled in ISM's DBA program with the explicit intention of teaching full-time at the university level. I was both pleased and impressed with the academic rigor of the program. This experience included work with both New York and Paris based faculty.

Importantly, I found the faculty and staff universally supportive of my goal to join the academic community. Much credit must go to Dean Horn, who provided guidance along the way, and a helpful reference as I sought faculty positions. In addition, he was charged with reading my Dissertation, not a small feat by any means.

I recommend the ISM DBA program without reservation. It is a challenging program and appropriately so. In the end, the outcome clearly justified the effort.

I found the Change Management seminar with Prof. Smits excellent. I recently attended a change management program at Erasmus University and was therefore able to compare the two programs. The Erasmus program was very focused on a specific change methodology, where I felt the ISM program focused on the broader dynamic of change. I found some of the opposing thinking that Prof. Smits introduced to be very valuable and helpful in explaining a business change that I am personally experiencing.

Regarding the ISM program, I have found the level of teaching to be very professional. The learning through class discussion, exploring the respective experiences, adds tremendous value to the overall experience.

I have been a student of the International School of Management for approximately 5 years and have recently graduated from the DBA program. The school’s teaching methods are excellent and my instructors were knowledgeable, encouraging and patient. The unique program philosophy has allowed me to learn and make progress towards my personal and professional goals. The administration of the school is professional and the teaching method follows an organized progressive structure that is both innovative and challenging. The caliber of the students is outstanding and the university provides multiple opportunities to support collegial learning and professional networking. It has been an amazing experience and I would highly recommend the university, the faculty and the experience.
ISM has a unique position as a practitioner oriented doctoral program that is international in scope, in its faculty and in its student body, with flexibility in courses at different times in different cities that make the learning stimulating and doable for a busy executive. I enjoyed immensely the Shanghai courses and professors and left thinking I really understood where China was today and where I could get involved in business there. The classes in Paris have been very good with excellent classmates.

The international scope of all the classes, but even more so the student body, is also unique and a huge asset. Taking classes in Paris and Shanghai and interacting with people from India, Japan, Hong Kong, Nigeria, and Brazil, along with all the Europeans and Americans, has been wonderful.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience, the people I have met and the courses. I look forward to staying involved and connected. I have and would recommend ISM to others.
